WEST HARTFORD, Conn. – The Rivier men's soccer team was downed by Saint Joseph (Conn.) by a final score of 5-0 on Saturday evening at the USJ Soccer Field in Great Northeast Athletic Conference (GNAC) play. With the loss, the Raiders dropped to 0-3-2 (0-2-1 GNAC), while the BlueJays kept their unbeaten streak intact through five matches at 4-0-1 (2-0-1 GNAC).
USJ got out to a 3-0 lead at the half, with Michael Torres registering an assist and goal in the opening 45 minutes. In the second half, Matthew Dima and Henry McGarrah each netted a goal to secure their second GNAC victory of 2023.
The BlueJays outshot the Raiders, 22-9, in the contest.
Looking ahead, Rivier will look to get back on track in a GNAC home game against Regis (Mass.) on Tuesday, Sept. 19 at 7:00 p.m. at Merrill Field.
