Men's Soccer earns 1-0 win over Emerson College

(Boston, Mass.) The Rivier University Men's Soccer team ended their 2015 season on high note this evening as they were able to capture a slim 1-0 victory over former GNAC foe Emerson College in a windy, rain soaked night at Rotch Field. Rivier finishes 2015 with a 3-11-1 overall record while Emerson falls to 5-12-0.

The first half saw both sides battling back and forth, but neither side could find the back of the net. The Lions put multiple shots on goal, but the Raiders keeper, senior Anthony Capozzi (Windham, N.H.), stopped them all. Rivier only managed 1 shot on goal in the first half, which Emerson's Carter Bowers stopped with ease.

In the second half the rain intensified, as did the pace of play. The Lions put several more shots on net, and the Raiders managed a few more as well. In the 78th minute, Emerson didn't keep enough defenders back, which opened the field for Raider sophomore Harley Kearney (Pelham, N.H.) to score a breakaway goal. This would end up being the only and final goal of the game, 1-0.

Capozzi finished his career with a 12 save shutout, his second in as many games. Bowers recorded three saves on four shots in the loss for Emerson.
