Men's Soccer denied by New England College, 3-2

(Henniker, N.H.) The Rivier University Men's Soccer team allowed three first half goals in the 3-2 loss to New England College this evening in Henniker. The loss send the Raiders' overall record to 1-4-0 on the season while the Pilgrims improve to 6-4-0 overall.

NEC would open the scoring just 2:21 into the action as Ronsard Masamba would record the unassisted goal notching his sixth of the season. The Pilgrims would extend their lead to 2-0 just seven minutes later as Masamba would strike again this time putting in a feed from teammate Michael Skarbelis.

Rivier would respond with a first half goal in the 12th minute as junior Alex Armstrong (Wakefield, R.I.) would record his first goal of the season assisted by classmate Jerry Krahn (Greene, R.I.).

NEC would get the goal back just before halftime as Skarbelis would come through with his team-high eighth goal of the season assisted by Rizy Misiri in the 34th minute.

The Raiders would cut the lead to 3-2 in the 89th minute as junior Kyle Gambeski (Londonderry, N.H.) would put in the unassisted score but that is as close as Rivier would get as the Pilgrims would hold on for the eventual 3-2 victory.

Junior goalkeeper Gary Archambault (Auburn, N.H.) made nine saves on twelve shots for Rivier while counterpart Dylan Mix finished the game with three saves for NEC.

Rivier, who is in the middle of a six game road trip, will travel to Albertus Magnus College on Saturday afternoon for a Great Northeast Athletic Conference contest with the Falcons.
