Men's Soccer tripped up by Wildcats, 4-1

(Nashua, N.H.) The Rivier University Men's Soccer team got a first half goal from freshman Harley Kearney (Pelham, N.H.) but it wasn't enough as the visiting Wildcats of Johnson & Wales University took home the 4-1 win in Great Northeast Athletic Conference competition this evening. Rivier falls to 1-2-0 overall (0-1-0 GNAC) with the loss while JWU improves to 4-1-0 (1-0-0 GNAC) on the season.

Trailing by a goal, Kearney was able to slip by the Wildcat goalkeeper at the top of the 18 and knock home his second goal of the season.

The Wildcats stormed right back and scored three unanswered goals on their way to the 4-1 final. Xavier Carty gets credit for the game winner as he sent a free kick just outside the 18 into the upper corner of the net inside the 27th minute of action. Doug Kase and Teegan Drake scored the lone second half tallies for JWU.

The Raiders will enjoy a full week off as they prepare to travel up to Standish, Maine on Saturday 9/19 for a date with Saint Joseph's College. JWU will travel to Elms College on Tuesday evening for their next scheduled contest.
