Men's Lacrosse: Raiders downed by the Cadets, 19-8
Northfield, Vt. – The Rivier University Men's Lacrosse team dropped their second match of the season against conference foes Norwich University, 19-8.
HOW IT HAPPENED:
Freshmen Connor Eck (Franklin, Mass.) was the first to find the back of the net after freshman defender Adam Hailey (Salem, N.H.) scooped up a ground ball. Just minutes later veteran attackman Dylan McSparren netted his first of the match after a save by senior goalie Ben Fitzpatrick (Stoneham, Mass.). The first quarter ended 3-2 in favor of the Cadets.
Senior Jacob Enwright (Dracut, Mass) was the first to get on the board in the second period. The goal came from a Cadet turnover caused by McSparren. The home team responded immediately off of the face off. The Cadets went on to score 4 more unanswered goals until McSparren struck in a man-down situation then Eck found the back of the net again with an unassisted goal with a little over a minute to go in the half.
The second half was one-sided as Norwich scored in the first minute and never looked back. By the end of the match the Raiders tallied a three more unassisted goals. The match ended with a score that only favored the home team, 19-8.

The Raiders with 16-23 in clears and scooped up 19 groundballs.
THE KEEPERS:
Raiders senior starter Ben Fitzpatrick (Stoneham, Mass.) pulled down 15 saves in the performance. Sawyer Gagnon also saw some time, he snagged 2 saves in the 3rd quarter.
LEADERS – Rivier University:
- Eck now leads the Raiders with 14 goals.
- Freshman Michael Ference (Salem, N.H.) and McSparren both have 5 assists a piece.
