Men's Lacrosse Game Preview at Emmanuel

Preview written by Ruppy Hailey, Director of Rivier Men's Lacrosse Operations

NASHUA, N.H. - The Rivier University Men's Lacrosse team (1-1, GNAC 1-1) will make the trip south to Boston, Mass. this Saturday morning for a highly anticipated Great Northeast Aathlic Conference game against the Emmanuel Saints (1-2, GNAC 1-1). The opening whistle is set for 11:00 AM at the picturesque Roberto Clemente Field, located in the Fens area of the city. The Raiders look to get back in the win column after being on the wrong side of a 19-8 decision Wednesday evening at Norwich University. For Emmanuel, their most recent contest was 14-7 loss earlier this week at Lasell University.

Players to Watch for the Raiders:

Senior attackman Dylan McSparren (Warwick R.I.) looks to continue his hot start to the '21 season after registering 7 goals and 4 assists in just a pair of games. McSparren had a 4 point outing against Norwich, notching a hat trick and a helper.

Freshman attackman, and reigning GNAC Rookie of the Week Connor Eck (Franklin, Mass.), followed up his 8 goal performance last Saturday against the University of St. Joseph with another pair that found the back of the net Wednesday vs. Norwich.

Freshman defender Cole Perreault (Gorham, Maine) leads the team with 11 ground balls. He has also show to be comfortable in the offensive zone, tallying 3 assists, 2 of which were highlight reel material as he threaded the needle through multiple defenders.

Senior goalkeeper Ben Fitzpatrick (Stoneham, Mass.) has been rock solid in the cage for the Raiders by stopping nearly 58% of the shots he has faced throughout the season, including 13 saves against Norwich.

This game marks the 9th overall meeting between Rivier and Emmanuel. The Saints hold the advantage with a 6-2 record over the Raiders. However, Rivier has won the two most recent contests, with the last being a 12-11 nail biter back in April of 2019. Historically, the Saints have outscored the Raiders by a total of 87-63.
