Field Hockey: Raiders suffer 3-1 setback to Framingham State

(Nashua, N.H.) The Rivier University Field Hockey team suffered another tough loss this evening as they fell to visiting Framingham State University, 3-1 in a non-conference contest under the lights at Raider Field. The loss sends the Raiders to a 2-6 overall record while the Rams improve to 2-4 overall on the season.

Framingham State would grab the early lead as senior Meaghann Ackerman (Littleton, Mass.) knocked home her 4th goal of the year in the 8th minute. Rivier would then find the equalizer as freshman Maegan Sheehy (Sabattus, Maine) found the back of the net off a pass from junior Jacyln Fraser (Wilmington, Mass.) in the 21st minute.

The contest would remain a draw until just after the second half started. FSU freshman Jordyn O'Boyle (Bradford, Mass.) gave her team the lead for good with her unassisted tally in the 39th minute followed by Ackerman's second goal of the game, an insurance goal in the 50th minute for the 3-1 final.

Rivier freshman Katie Olsen (Saugus, Mass.) earned the start in net and stopped three of the five shots she faced. Senior Emily Foster (West Lebanon, N.H.) came off the bench and made two saves on three chances. Framingham State freshman keeper Grace Pushor (Old Town, Maine) made eleven saves in the win for the Rams.

Next up for the Raiders will be a return to Great Northeast Athletic Conference action on Saturday morning as they travel to Simmons University for an 11am affair. Framingham State will also return to the field on Saturday as they host Western Connecticut State University at 2pm.
