Field Hockey: Fraser, Raiders doubled up by Anna Maria

(Nashua, N.H.) The Rivier University Field Hockey suffered yet another one-goal loss this afternoon as they fell to visiting Anna Maria College, 2-1 at Raider Field. With the loss, the Raiders are now 1-4 overall on the year and 0-2 in the conference while the AMCATS improve to 2-2 overall, 1-1 GNAC.

Anna Maria jumped out to a two goal lead as freshman Abigayle Celata (Baldwinville, Mass.) netted an unassisted tally in the 32nd minute and classmate Niamh Cote (Tewksbury, Mass.) added her own unassisted goal in the 45th minute to account for all of the AMCATS offense.

Senior Linsey Roth (Tyngsboro, Mass.) cut the deficit in half with her fourth goal of the year, assisted by freshman Amy Eacho (Kingston, N.H.) at 59:09. However after a late flurry of chances, the Raiders could not find the equalizer.

Rivier outshot the AMCATS by a slim 16-15 margin while also holding the advantage on penalty corners at 15-6.

Senior goalkeeper Emily Foster (West Lebanon, N.H.) made six saves in the contest for the Raiders while Anna Maria freshman Nikki Streete (San Jose, Calif.) stopped seven of the eight shot she saw on net.

Rivier will return to action on Thursday evening as they host Elms College under the lights at Raider Field. Game time is set for 7pm. Anna Maria will host Becker College on Tuesday night at 7pm.
