Raiders fall in overtime at Anna Maria, 3-2

Paxton, MA - The Anna Maria College Wilcats used an overtime goal to defeat the Raiders, 3-2 today in non-conference action.

Sophomore Kayla O'Reilly (Marshfield, MA) got the Raiders on the board just before the half as she was able to deflect a Presleigh Skelley (Fr., Woleboro, NH) shot past AMC goalkeeper Marita Steinmetz.

AMC would find the equalizer at the 38 minute mark when Katherine Bant followed her own shot and was able to sneak her second shot behind freshman Makenzie Flagg (Shirley, MA). The Wildcats took the lead just three minutes later on a Marybeth McClune unassisted goal.

With less than 10 minutes left, the Raiders were looking to tie the game and send it into overtime. Sophomore Hilary Bouchard (Wells, ME) stepped up and delivered the dramatic late goal, firing a shot 16 yards out into the back of the net.

In the extra frame, AMC's Bant knocked home a long pass from Nichole Lowe to give the Wildcats the win.

Flagg was able to stop 19 of the 22 shots she saw in the 73 minutes of action, including a penalty shot with 15 minutes left to keep the Raiders within striking distance.

The Field Hockey team will return to action on Thursday night (9/15) when they travel over to Wenham, MA to face Gordon College. Game time is set for 7pm.
