Men's Soccer suffers defeat to Trinity College

(Nashua, N.H.) The Rivier University Men's Soccer team dropped a tough fought 2-0 decision to visiting Trinity College this evening under the lights at Raider Field. It was the first contest of the season for both teams as Trinity now stands at 1-0 and Rivier at 0-1.

The Bantams were able to get on the board early in the first half as Tim Shea was able to knock a loose rebound pass the outstretched arms of Rivier's sophomore goalkeeper Gary Archambault (Auburn, N.H.). That would be the only ball that would get through Archambault as he was able to stop the other eight shots he faced.

In the second half, with sophomore Anthony Capozzi (Windham, N.H.) in net, the Bantams were able to extend their lead as Tobias Gimand laced a pass from Brian Kelly into the upper right corner in the 60th minute. Capozzi made two saves on three shots during his 45 minutes in between the pipes.

A pair of goalkeepers earned the shutout for Trinity as Jason Katz and Mateo Zabala each made a save in the contest.

Rivier will look to rebound and find the win column on Saturday afternoon as they host New England College in a 4pm kickoff. Trinity will also be in action on Saturday as they travel to Hamilton for a 1:30pm contest.
