Men’s Lacrosse Glides Past the Cadets, 17-4, on Senior Day 

NASHUA, N.H. On Senior Day, the Rivier men's lacrosse team shut down Norwich 17-4 in a Great Northeast Athletic Conference (GNAC) matchup at home on Merrill Field on Saturday afternoon.  

Seniors Matty Babb, Alan Cozzolino, Robert DelPrete, Connor Eck, Michael Ference, Dylan Fonseca, Sawyer Gagnon, Adam Hailey, Coby Mercier, Ryan Palmer, and Cole Perreault were celebrated before the start of the contest. Jeffrey Potter, the lone graduate student was also honored, along with three student managers, Madeline Fitts, Dylan Tanguay, and Alex Burghardt.  

The Raiders now sit at 9-6 overall and 7-2 in the GNAC, with the Cadets falling to 10-6 on the season and 7-2 in conference play.  

Mercier, Eck, and Chris Heitmiller each collected five goals apiece to help guide the Raiders to a victory. Ference completed the day with one goal, six assists, and two ground balls. Potter totaled one goal, five assists, and three ground balls. 

The Raiders would score six unanswered goals in the first period, quickly dominating home turf. 

They would continue their scoring in the second quarter adding three more goals, to lead the Cadets 9-0 heading into the locker room at the half.  

Rivier tallied four goals in the third, increasing their lead 13-0.  

It wasn't until the fourth quarter when Norwich snuck in a goal within the first 30 seconds of play. The Cadets went on to score three more times, but Riv countered with four goals.  

Gagnon made nine saves in net for the Raiders on 11 shots faced, to collect the win. Palmer stepped in goal with 5:40 minutes in the contest for Riv, making two saves.  

The Raiders will travel to Paxton, Mass. to take on Anna Maria in their final regular-season GNAC game at Caparso Field on Wednesday, April 24 with a faceoff of 5:00 p.m.
