Rivier-GNAC Weekly Honors

Nashua, NH – Rivier College sophomore Ford Coates (Raymond, NH) has been named the Great Northeast Athletic Conference (GNAC) Baseball Pitcher of the Week after throwing a nine inning complete game win against Lesley University. Coates allowed just 6 scattered hits and 1 run while striking out 14 batters in the Raiders 6-1 victory. Ford also helped himself on offense, going 2 for 4 at the plate as the Raiders combined for 12 hits and zero errors on the field behind Coates.

Meanwhile, freshman Rebecca Wickens (Tyngsboro, MA) was named the GNAC Women's Lacrosse Rookie of the Week. Wickens led the Raiders with 14 goals scored in a 2-1 week for Rivier. In all three games for Rivier Rebecca was the goal leader, scoring 6 goals against Emmanuel in a 24-9 conference win, 3 goals in the teams one loss to Norwich and 5 goals against Husson in a non-conference game. Wickens scored on 14 of her 20 shots for a .700 goal percentage and also added two assists during the week for 16 total points while picking up 6 ground balls to help the team.
