Plymouth Upends Rivier 15-1

Ringe, NH – Plymouth State University scored 15 runs on 8 hits and 11 walks today to win a non-conference baseball game against Rivier College in Ringe, NH at Franklin Peirce University.

Rivier starter Tyler Eaton (Waterville, ME) gave up 3 runs in the first after walking leadoff hitter Grant Livingston (Niantic, CT) and giving up back to back doubles to Ryan McIntosh (Lincoln, NH) and Bryant Lausberg (Somersworth, NH), but then settled down to hold the Panthers scoreless over the next two innings.

Meanwhile Panthers starting pitcher Joe Hudson (Greenfield, MA) cruised through 5 innings of 1 hit ball giving up just 1 run after a walk to Greg Sierra (Bronx, NY) and a double to Aramis Velez (Lowell, MA) in the fourth inning.

Rivier's Nathan Knezevic entered to pitch in the bottom half of the fourth inning and had trouble locating his pitches as the Panthers exploded for 8 runs, 3 earned, to drive Knezevic from the game after just 2/3 of an inning. Kyle Bowser (Newington, NH) pitched the final 3.1 innings, giving up 4 runs, 2 earned on 2 hits and 6 walks.

Both Jonathan Bishop (Woburn, MA) and Bobby Chatfield (Sharon, CT) pitched 1 inning of no hit relief for Plymouth to finish the game after 7 innings 15-1.

McIntosh went 2 for 3 and catcher Anthony Vadala (Medford, MA) went 2 for 4 as the only two Panthers with multiple hits in the game.
