Emmanuel (Mass.) Surges Past Women's Lacrosse, 11-4

BOSTON, Mass. – The Rivier women's lacrosse team fell to Emmanuel (Mass.) in Great Northeast Athletic Conference (GNAC) North Division action on Saturday, March 15 at Roberto Clemente Field by a final score of 11-4.

The loss dropped the Raiders' record to 2-2 (1-1 GNAC) while the victory propelled the Saints to a 3-3 (2-0 GNAC).

After the hosts went up 3-0, sophomore Sofia Cebrero broke the Raiders' drought scoring, posting a man-up goal with 4:28 left in the opening frame to cut the deficit to two.

First-year Ashlynn Ledoux scored with 5:50 to play in the first half to make it a 5-2 Emmanuel lead at halftime.

Emmanuel scored four goals in the third quarter to go up 9-2 after 45 minutes of action.

Ledoux recorded her second tally of the afternoon 2:50 into the final quarter, converting on a man-down situation, making it 9-3 at the time. Senior Sarah Lachance registered the Raiders final goal of the outing with 9:04 to play.

Rivier was outshot 26-14 with senior goalkeepers Kylie Coupal and Rachel Hinkley making seven and three saves, respectively. Rivier controlled nine of the 19 draws on the day, with Lachance leading the charge with six. Each side recorded 28 ground balls in the conference divisional clash.

The Raiders return to action on Wednesday, March 19 in their home opener against Salve Regina. Opening draw is set for 7:00 p.m. from Merrill Field.
