Women’s Lacrosse Drops Season Opener at Keene St.

KEENE, N.H. – The Rivier women's lacrosse team was defeated by Keene St. in its season-opener on Tuesday afternoon at the Owl Athletic Complex by a final score of 14-7.

The Raiders fell to 0-1 with the result as the Owls jumped out to a 1-0 start.

Rivier junior Bailey Carroll scored on a feed from senior Sarah Lachance to take a 1-0 lead just 50 seconds into the contest.

From there, Keene St. scored five consecutive goals over a 16:43 span to take a four-goal lead. The Raiders used a three-goal swing to cut the deficit back to one with 6:18 left to play in the first half. The Owls scored a pair in the final 2:18 to take a 7-4 advantage into the halftime break.

Keene St. added two goals in the third quarter to enhance its lead to five goals with 15 minutes to play.

In the final frame, the Raiders were outscored 5-1 as the Owls secured their first victory of the campaign.

Senior goalkeeper Kylie Coupal made 10 saves in her collegiate debut.

Rivier will head north for another non-conference matchup on Tuesday, March 4 against VTSU Castleton. The start time is scheduled for 6:00 p.m. at Dave Wolk Stadium.
