Rivier Upends Albertus Magnus College 16 - 5
(Nashua, N.H.) The Rivier Women's Lacrosse team picked up their sixth win of the season with a 16 – 5 victory over the visiting Albertus Magnus College Falcons this afternoon at Raider Field. With the win, the Raiders improve to 6 – 5, 3 – 1 GNAC. With the loss, the Falcons fall to 0 – 7, 0 – 4 GNAC. Rivier opened up an 8 – 0 lead in the first half, scoring five goals in the opening twelve minutes. The Raiders held an 11 – 2 advantage at halftime and they never looked back.
Rivier was led on the day by Marykate Sweeney (SO, Chicopee, MA), 4 goals, 1 assist, 4 shots on goal, and 1 ground ball; Amanda Wickens (JR, Tyngsboro, MA), 3 goals, 2 assists, 4 shots on goal, and 1 ground ball; Lauren Goodspeed (SO, Merrimack, NH), 2 goals, 1 assist, 7 shots on goal, and 3 ground balls; and Catherine Connolly (SO, Nashua, NH), 2 goals, 1 assist, and 3 shots on goal. In goal,Courtney Laperriere (FR, Keene, NH) earned the win with 3 saves.
Albertus Magnus was paced by Aida Sarr (FR, Bronx, NY), 2 goals and 3 shots on goal; Jenny Luna (SO, Brentwood, NY), 2 goals, 2 shots on goal, and 3 ground balls; and Jyllian Finkle (FR, No. Branford, CT), with 1 goal. The visiting Falcons were backstopped by 14 saves from Lexie Fenn (FR, Oakville, CT).
Next up for the Raiders is a trip to GNAC opponent Mount Ida for a 5:30 pm game on April 12th. Albertus Magnus returns to action on the 12th as well with a home contest versus Saint Joseph (CT).
