Amaral, Raiders can't hold off Lasers in GNAC WLAX action

(Nashua, NH) A slow first half by the Raiders handed conference foes the Lasers of Lasell College the 15-6 victory on Tuesday night. The Great Northeast Athletic Conference (GNAC) loss came despite strong performances by senior Lauren Brett (Otisfield, ME) and freshman Elena Reilly (Braintree, MA). The loss drops the Raiders overall record to 7-6 and their conference record to 4-5. Lasell's overall record improves to 11-2 while their conference record remains perfect at 8-0

Lasell would put up six goals in the first ten minutes of the contest before the Raiders would score on a goal by Reilly with 9:40 remaining in the first half. Lasell would pour on five more goals before the halftime buzzer sounded.

In the second half the Raiders' offense would come alive as Brett, Reilly and sophomore Savannah Neuwirt (Newbury, NH) would put the ball in the back of the net for Rivier. Reilly notched the hat-trick while Brett collected three points off of two goals and an assist. Juniors Jessica Amaral (East Providence, RI) and Vanessa Viola (Nashua, NH) tied for the team lead with six groundballs apiece.

Four Lasers notched hat tricks in the victory led by Ashley Slattery with four goals and five assists in the matchup. Britney Wuorio added three goals and two assists in a five point game and Rebecca Stanton and Caitlyn Brecher tallied three goals each.

Rivier will end their season at home on Thursday night when they will face the Pilgrims of New England College. Lasell will return to the field on Thursday when they will host Western New England College in an afternoon matchup.
