Brettt records 9 points as the Raiders earn the win over New England College

(Nashua, NH) The Rivier University Women's Lacrosse team earned their eighth win of 2013 as they defeated the New England College Pilgrims this evening, 14-12 in front of about 100 people up on Raider Field. With the win, Rivier finishes the regular season with an 8-6 overall record. The loss drops the Pilgrims to 4-11 overall with two more North Atlantic Conference games to play.

Junior Rebecca Wickens (Tyngsboro, MA) scored six goals in the victory as the Raiders also received a solid effort in net from freshman Danielle Moran (San Diego, CA). The rookie goalie made 12 saves on the evening. Also finding the back of the net for the Raiders were senior Lauren Brett (Otisfield, ME) and junior Jessica Amaral (East Providence, RI). Both student-athletes scored three times and Brett also added three assists. Freshman Elena Reilly (Braintree, MA) also contributed with two goals of her own.

New England College's offensive attack was paced by Sarah Merrill and Eleni Hatsis, who both had four point nights (3 goals, 1 assist). Gabriella Bigos added two goals, as did Kate Roberge, and both Elizabeth Bois and Morgan Abbott scored single tallies. Rebecca Harvey made seven saves in the loss.

Rivier will return to action as they have earned a spot in the Great Northeast Athletic Conference Tournament on Wednesday afternoon. The opponent and time is still to be determined. New England College will travel to the University of Maine-Farmington in their next scheduled contest. Game time is set for 1pm in Farmington, Maine.
