Women's Lax tops Emmanuel, 25-12

Raider Field. Nashua, NH – The Rivier Raiders scored 25 goals en route to a 25 – 22 Great Northeast Athletic Conference (GNAC) win over the Emmanuel College Saints today. The Raiders led 15 – 8 at halftime and held off the Saints over the 2nd half to close out the game.

Rivier was led in attack by the trio of Rebecca Wickens (sophomore, Tyngsbore, MA) 9 goals, 1 assist, Lauren Brett (junior, Otisfield, ME) 8 goals, 2 assists, and Hannah Wyatt (sophomore, Merrimack, NH) 4 goals, 8 assists. Jessica Amaral (sophomore, E. Providence, RI) 2 goals, 1 assist, and Vanessa Viola (sophomore, Nashua, NH) and Christina Demmons (freshmen, Nashua, NH) with 1 goal each.

The visiting Saints were led by Logan Carr with 8 goals, and Madeline Leahy with 6 goals and 4 assists. Madison Altwies added 3 goals and an assist and Alexia Basile added 3 goals. Jenny Konecnik and Marykate McNulty added 1 goal each. Hillary Dandurant put up 13 saves in goal for Emmanuel.

The Raiders received very strong play in goal from Caleigh Bertolaccini (junior, Chelmsford, MA). Bertolaccini made a number of strong saves in net and turned in crucial saves when Emmanuel was looking to pull close to the Raiders. Bertolaccini finished with 11 saves. Caitlin Gallagher (junior, Billerica, MA) also put in a strong game in defense and leading defensive transition out of the Rivier defensive half. Gallagher's play stood out in the Rivier transition game and helping the Raiders clear their zone. Wickens led Rivier with 9 groundballs, Amaral chipped in 7, and Brett and Wyatt had 5 each.

At the time of this release, Rivier's win places them in 6th place in the conference, tied with Mount Ida. Please check back to the website as the Raiders wait to find out the seedings for the GNAC post season tournament.
