Women's Lax earns first win of 2012!

(Nashua, NH) The Rivier Raiders upended the Daniel Webster College Eagles 19 – 3 on Thursday night in the crosstown derby. The Raiders jumped on the board just 1:16 into the game on an unassisted goal by Lauren Brett (junior, Otisfield, ME). Jessica Amaral (sophomore, E. Providence, RI) followed up with the 2nd goal just 4:22 later. After a 3rd goal from Brett, Hannah Wyatt (sophomore, Merrimack, NH) would add the Raiders 4th strike inside of the first 10 minutes.

Amaral – 7 goals – Wyatt – 5 goals, 2 assists – and Brett 3 goals, 1 assist – would pace the Raider attack on the night. They led a first half attack that rolled over the Eagles in route to a 12 – 0 halftime lead. The Raiders also got goals from Rebecca Wickens (sophomore, Tyngsboro, MA), Savannah Neuwirt (freshman, Newbury, MA), and Vanessa Viola (sophomore, Nashua, NH) in the 1st half. Mackenzie Flagg turned in 2 saves in the 1st half to keep the Eagles off the scoreboard.

Rivier kept on the attack right from the start of the 2nd half with Amaral adding back to back strikes, with assists from Wyatt, to stretch the Raider lead to 14 – 0. Daniel Webster got on the scoreboard at the 22:54 mark with a goal from Natalie Bates. Rivier would add 5 more goals over the 2nd half, with Wyatt and Amaral adding two each and Wickens adding one. The Raiders looked strong in firing 28 shots on the night, 25 on goal.

Rivier returns to action next Thursday in a GNAC Conference game away at Norwich at 3:30. Daniel Webster returns to action this Sunday, away at Thomas College.
