Raiders Fall on Road to Suffolk

(Boston, Mass.) The Rivier Men's Basketball Team fell 73-68, in a GNAC matchup against the Suffolk University Rams this afternoon. With the loss, the Raiders drop to 3-11 (2-5 GNAC) on the year. With the win, the Suffolk University Rams improve to 7-8 (4-4 GNAC).

Led by freshman guard Andre Ruff (Lowell, Mass.) who scored 14 points while securing 3 rebounds for the Raiders, and freshman forward David Lorden (Pepperell, Mass.) who also added 14 points and 3 rebounds, the Raiders were able to play the Rams tough up until the final whistle. Unfortunately for Rivier, the efforts were not enough as they were defeated by the Rams on the road.

Rivier also had good performances turned in by sophomore forward Matthew Manning (Peabody, Mass.) who was able to score 8 points and grab 5 rebounds off of the bench, and sophomore forward Kevin Francis (Cromwell, CT) who was also able to add an additional 9 points off of the bench for the Raiders.

The Rams were led by senior guard Sam Nwadike (Houston, T.X.) who was able to score 21 points and grab 9 rebounds in the game.  Jake Meister (Madison, N.J.) also played well for the Rams recording a double-double (19 points, 12 rebounds) and was able to add 5 assists to his tally. Branden Barboza (Riverside, R.I.) also added 16 points for the Rams.

In their next contest, the Rivier Men's Basketball team will travel to Albertus Magnus College, Monday, January 19^th, at 3:00pm. The Raiders look to redeem an early season loss to the Falcons in which they were defeated 87-68. The Suffolk University Rams will travel to Norwich University, Monday, January 19^th, at 7:30pm, in a GNAC matchup between the Rams and Cadets.
