Women's Volleyball sweeps Bridgewater State, 3-0

(Nashua, N.H.) Host Rivier University swept their way to a 3-0 victory over Bridgewater State University Friday evening at the Muldoon Gymnasium as part of the inaugural "Live Free or Die" Invitational hosted in conjunction with Daniel Webster College.

Rivier (15-4) posted a 25-18, 25-20, 25-14 decision over the visiting Bears in the second game inside the Muldoon. Bridgewater State (10-13) also dropped the opening game to Rhode Island College by scores of 25-18, 13-25, 23-25 and 25-27.

Game Two: Rivier University 3, Bridgewater State University 0 (Final)

Junior Lauren Silverman (Chelmsford, Mass.) powered the Raiders to the three set victory as she totaled 12 kills, .500 hitting percentage and two total blocks. Senior Jackie Pisecco (Chelmsford, Mass.) added seven kills and junior Dana Mott (Medway, Mass.) provided 6 kills in the team's fifth straight win. Senior Emily O'Reilly (San Francisco, Calif.) continues to rack up the assists as she dished out 26 helpers and sophomore libero Bethany Trevino (Westminster, Colo.) secured the back line with 10 digs.

Bridgewater State was led by Hannah Maymon and Clara Goncalves, who combined for 21 kills on the evening. Goncalves also swung it well as she had a .474 hitting percentage. Cassidy Tyros collected nine digs and Charleyne Panner had 25 assists.

Game One: Rhode Island College 3, Bridgewater State University 1 (Final)

In the opening game of the Invitational at the Muldoon, it was Rhode Island College who pulled out a four set victory over Bridgewater State. The Anchormen (11-7) took the four sets by scores of 18-25, 25-13, 25-23 and 27-25.

Kelsey Lace hammered down 12 kills for Rhode Island and both Michelle Malboeuf and Emily Langlais added eight kills apiece as the Anchormen earned their eleventh win of the season. Langlais has an outstanding evening as she registered a .636 hitting percentage to go along with her block solo. Abigayl White led the team with 36 assists and Megan Armburg collected 12 digs along the back line.

The Bears saw the Maymon/Goncalves duo total 22 kills in the opening match with Panner handing out 39 assists. Tyros (14) and Maymon (12) were the only one to record double-digit digs in the loss.

Day Two of the "Live Free or Die" Invitational will begin at 11am tomorrow morning as the Raiders host Rhode Island College before taking on Western Connecticut State in the final game at 2pm.
