Women's Lacrosse drops GNAC contest to Saint Joseph's (Me.)
(Nashua, N.H.) The Rivier Women's Lacrosse team dropped a game 21 – 4 to the visiting St. Joseph's College Monks this afternoon at Raider Field in GNAC Conference action. With the loss, the Raiders fall to 6 – 7, 3 – 3 GNAC. With the win, the Monks improve to 11 – 2, 5 – 0 GNAC. Rivier used tallies from Amanda Wickens (JR, Tyngsboro, MA) at the 19:56 mark of the 1st half and then another strike from Bethany Scott (FR, Tewksbury, MA) at the 24:39 mark to tighten the game up at 6 – 4 with the visiting Monks. But, St. Joseph's went on a 5 goal run to close out the half 11 – 4 and took over the game in the 2nd half.
Rivier was led on the day by Wickens, 2 goals, 7 shots on goal, and 3 ground balls; and Paxton LaRocque (SR, Londonderry, NH), 1 goal, 3 shots on goal, and 2 ground balls. In goal,Courtney Laperriere (FR, Keene, NH) had 6 saves.
St. Joseph's was paced by Elyse Caiazzo (SO, Scarborough, ME), 4 goals, 3 assists, and 5 shots on goal; and Mary Leasure (SR, So. Portland, ME), 2 goals, 6 assists, and 3 shots on goal. The visiting Monks were backstopped by 9 saves from Michelle Cunha (SR, Enfield, CT).
Next up for the Raiders is a trip to Colby Sawyer for a 5:00 pm game on April 20th. St. Joseph's returns to action on the 19th with a home contest versus Emmanuel College in another GNAC tilt.
