Rivier Pushes Rams Off Hill 17 – 5

Nashua, NH, Raider Field – The Rivier University Raiders (4 – 2, 2 – 0 GNAC) got back to their winning ways with a victory over the Rams of Framingham State University (1 – 3, 0 – 0 MASCAC) 17 – 5 tonight in a non-conference matchup.  The Raiders pounced on their opponent, opening up an 7 – 1 lead in the first 11 minutes of the game.  Framingham State managed to plug the onslaught with a 2nd goal at the 11:27 mark and the Rams tried to steady themselves.  But the Raiders pounded back with seven more goals over the final 15 minutes of the first half to take complete control of the game with a 14 – 2 halftime lead.  Rivier and Framingham State scored three goals apiece in the second half for the final score line of 17 – 5.    

Hannah Wyatt (Senior - Merrimack, NH) took control of the high octane Raider attack – Rivier has 94 total goals scored in their 6 games – for the night by scoring 6 goals and adding 1 ground ball. Amanda Wickens (Freshman - Tyngsboro, MA) 4 goals, 6 ground balls; Jessica Amaral (Senior - E. Providence, RI) 3 goals, 1 assist, 3 ground balls; and Elena Reilly (Sophomore - Braintree, MA) 3 goals, 2 assists, 4 ground balls also joined in the potent offensive display.  Vanessa Viola (Senior - Nashua, NH) 1 assist, 8 ground balls and Paxton LaRocque (Sophomore - Londonderry, NH) 1 goal, 4 ground balls contributed to the Raiders' ball movement and control throughout the game.  Danielle Moran (Sophomore - San Diego, CA) continued her strong play in goal, turning in 9 saves including 2 on free position shots. 

The visiting Rams received strong performances from Jessica Graham (Freshmen – Woburn, MA) 1 goal, 2 ground balls, 7 shots on goal; Kristen Hoggins (Freshmen – Harvard, MA) 1 goal, 4 ground balls; Nicole L'Heureux (Junior – Dracut, MA); Amy Rotger (Freshmen – Revere, MA) 1 goal; Lauren Kent (Senior – Framingham, MA) 1 goal, 1 ground ball.  Alysha Cericola (Sophomore – Waltham, MA) went the distance in goal making 7 saves.

Next up for the Raiders is a home contest this Saturday versus St. Joseph (CT) at 1:00 pm in a GNAC Conference clash.  Framingham State opens MASCAC Conference play this Saturday at home versus Mass maritime at 12:00 pm.
