Davis, Dick take top honors at DW Invitational

Nashua – Rivier University crowned individual champions in both the women and men at the annual Eagle Invitational hosted by Daniel Webster College Friday afternoon at Mines Falls Park in Nashua.

Rivier captured the women's team title with a low score of 43 points, while NHTI (55) placed second, Elms (57) took third, Suffolk (69) placed fourth, and Daniel Webster took fifth (118). Newbury and Wheelock posted individual results only.

NHTI took the men's title with a team score of 22, capturing five of the top seven individual finishes. Newbury (63) took second, Daniel Webster placed third (71), and Rivier took fourth (81). Elms, Suffolk and Wheelock posted individual results only.

Christina Dick (Tewksbury, Mass.) of Rivier bested the women's field taking the 5k in 21:34, edging NHTI's Isha Garcia (Candia, N.H.) who was 19 seconds behind. Rivier's Jillian Pilotte took third.

Ashley England (Milford, Maine) led DWC placing 14th overall (25:17), followed by Jennifer Fredericks (Beacon Falls, Conn.) in 21st (26:56), while Hannah Littlefield (Raynham, Mass.) was 33rd, Rachel Fairfield (Amherst, N.H.) was 36th, and Mary Jane Warren (New London, Conn.) was 39th.

Alec Davis (Amherst, N.H.) took first on the men's 8k trail, besting the field with a time of 29:41, followed by NHTI's Mark Richardson (Wolfeboro, N.H.) who placed at 31:40. Jesse Zina (Ludlow, Mass.) of Elms took third (31:42).

Eric Caron (Groveton, N.H.) paced the Eagles with an 11th place showing (32:42), while Bryan Fitzpatrick (Canton, Conn.) was 13th (33:08), and Marty Davis (Bloomsburg, Penn.) was 16th (34:33).

Kelvin Sanchez (Lowell, Mass.) and Darrik Marstaller (Spofford, N.H.) placed 27th and 28th, respectively for the hosts, while Cory Clark was 37th.
