Men's Basketball: Raiders can't outlast Norwich; fall 88-68

(Nashua, N.H.) The Rivier University Men's Basketball team fell behind early and couldn't battle back as they fell to visiting Norwich University, 88-68 in Great Northeast Athletic Conference action this afternoon inside the Muldoon Gymnasium. The loss slides the Raiders' overall record to 1-16, 0-10 in the conference, while the Cadets improve to 7-9 overall (4-5 GNAC).

Freshman Tristian Givens (Windsor, Conn.) continues his recent hot streak as he tallied the game-high of 26 points while shooting 9-fof-20 from the floor and collecting nine rebounds. Classmate Angel Perez (Miami, Fla.) chipped in with 10 in a reserve effort and senior Kevin Francis (Cromwell, Conn.) returned to action with five points and six rebounds.

Norwich saw four Cadets reach double-figures led by junior Darius Bryant's (Calhoun Falls, S.C.) 22 points, 10-for-11 from the field. Classmate Mike Hogervorst (South Holland, Netherlands) added 19 points and seven rebounds with sophomore Daniel Haimes (San Juan Capistrano, Calif.) adding in 13 points of his own. Junior Joe Bertrand (Saugus, Mass.) was electric off the bench as he recorded 18 points while shooting 4-for-5 from beyond the arc.

Rivier will look to find the win column in their next contest which is set for Wednesday evening at Albertus Magnus. Norwich will also return to action on Wednesday night as they travel to Standish, Maine for a 37pm date with Saint Joseph's College.
