Men's Basketball suffers 99-85 loss to New England College

(Nashua, N.H.) The Rivier University Men's Basketball team suffered a 99-85 defeat this evening to visiting New England College in non-conference action at the Muldoon Gymnasium. The loss sends the Raiders to 1-3 overall while New England College remains perfect at 3-0 on the young season.

Freshman Tristian Givens (Windsor, Conn.) continues his hot streak to start his career as he recorded a game high 32 points, shooting 11-for-15 from the floor with five 3-point attempts made. Senior Kevin Francis (Cromwell, Conn.) registered a double-double with 12 points and 10 rebounds with freshman Keith Poitier (East Hartford, Conn.) adding 14 points. Freshman Angel Perez (Miami, Fla.) contributed nine points off the bench for the Raiders.

The Pilgrims, once trailing by 12 points, saw sophomore Jason Jones (Roxbury, Mass.) record a double-double with 22 points and 23 rebounds to lead the team to their third straight win. Freshman Izaiah Winston-Brooks (Roxbury, Mass.) added a team-high 23 points and classmate Brenndan Rogers (Hanson, Mass.) chipped in with 13 points in a reserve effort as a total of five New England College student-athletes eclipsed the double-digit mark in scoring.

Rivier will have a full week of rest before they travel to Norwich University to open up Great Northeast Athletic Conference play on Tuesday, November 29th. New England College, who defeated Norwich on Saturday afternoon 73-64, will host Eastern Nazarene College also on Tuesday following the Thanksgiving Day break.
