Women's Lacrosse: 2020 Season Preview

(NASHUA, N.H.) – It is the spring of 2020 and it is a great time to be Rivier University Women's Lacrosse player.  The Raiders will reveail their new stadium facility (Linda Robinson Pavilion), Coach Sarah Sigman is back at the helm and the team has completed a demanding offseason and preseason workout regimen.  The Rivier University women's lacrosse program is ready to go!

Sarah Sigaman returns in her second year as Head Coach, proud '14 alumna and former defender for the women's lacrosse team who guided her team through two of the most competitive seasons in program history.  Along her side will be Assistant Coach Makenna Campbell. 

Rivier will rely upon the leadership of seniors Amanda Barton (Pelham, N.H.) and Shaely Porrini (Bristol, Conn.). The two captains who will lead a seasoned roster comprised of five seniors, four juniors, five sophomores and one freshman.

Leading the attack will be senior Dzenana Omerovic (Revere, Mass.), sophomore Cailee Green (Henniker, N.H), and junior Colleen Murphy (Hudson, N.H.).  The Raiders welcome back junior attacker Kayla Foye (Billerica, Mass) as she is eager to get back on the field.

In the midfield  the Raiders will look to senior captain Amanda Barton who is inching closer to her 100th goal this season. Alongside Amanda in the midfield will be junior Stephanie Whalen (Litchfield, N.H), transfer student Tara Saliany (Nashua, N.H), and freshman McKenzie Sauer (Windsor, V.T) hoping to provide quick and smooth transition through all thirds of the field.  

Holding down the defense will be senior captain Shaely Porrini and senior Kayla Phelps (Laconia, N.H), sophomore Breanna Abilheira-Cargill (Cumberland, R.I), sophomore Kimberly Wood (Wakefield, Mass), and sophomore Josephine Hastings (West Lebanon, N.H).  The Raiders also welcome back senior defender Katie Wogan (Dunstable, Mass) who due to injury had to take last season off.

In goal, the Raiders will showcase a junior transfer Shea Kingsley (Pelham, N.H) who is eagerly waiting to protect her net.

The season will officially begin on Wednesday today at Joanne Merrill Field against Clark University at 6PM.
