R.U.S.T Review

NASHUA, NH: On Sunday, April 23rd, the Rivier University men’s soccer program hosted its 4th Annual Spring Tournament (R.U.S.T). The Raiders invited Westfield State University, Northern Essex Community College, and Elms College to the four-game tournament.

The event was a collaboration with Rivier’s Office of Multicultural Engagement to celebrate diversity, equity, and inclusion. International flags were hung, tacos and empanadas were served, all while listening to international music and playing “the beautiful game”. Through the fortitude of all four programs, they endured the cold and heavy rainfall and put on a great show.

Results:

Game 1: Rivier University 2, Elms College 1

Game 2: Westfield St. University 1, NECC 1 (PK’s Westfield 4, NECC 3)

Consolation Match: Elms College 1, NECC 0

Final: Rivier University 1, Westfield St. University 0

By the end of the event, the Raiders walked away with the title of “2024 R.U.S.T Champions”, for the second year in a row.

“To us, winning the R.U.S.T plaque is a symbol of our hard work during the nontraditional segment of the year. Of course, winning the GNAC tournament is the ultimate goal, however we saw this tournament as an opportunity to challenge ourselves in a meaningful way!”, said Coach Barbosa.
