Men's Soccer: Raiders stumble at Pine Manor

(Chestnut Hill, Mass.) Coming off a grueling double overtime 0-0 Great Northeast Athletic Conference tie with Emmanuel College less than 24 hours ago, the Rivier University Men's Soccer team battled through a 3-0 defeat on the road at Pine Manor College this afternoon. The Raiders are now 1-4-1 (0-1-1 GNAC) on the season while the Gators improve to 4-1-1.

The Gators jumped out to the early lead just 51 seconds into the contest when freshman Chase Owen (Lebanon, Texas) knocked home a cross from junior Jose Corrales (El Paso, Texas). The teams would battle over the course of the first half until Pine Manor upped their lead in the 39th minute. The Gators would then close out the scoring in the game's final minute when sophomore Diego Herrara (El Paso, Texas) laced a shot from the right side for the 3-0 final.

Sophomore goalkeeper Collin Deyarmin (Raymond, N.H.) made four saves as he played in the game's first 45 minutes of action. Classmate Andrew Perry (Lebanon, Conn.) finished the game and allowed one goal on the only shot he faced on net.

As a team, the Raiders were outshot by Pine Manor 21-3.

Next up for Rivier will be a road non-conference contest on Wednesday evening as they travel to Fitchburg State for a 7pm kickoff. Pine Manor will travel to Lesley University on Thursday night in their next scheduled contest.
