Men's Lacrosse take regular season GNAC finale 15-7

(Nashua, N.H.) The Rivier Men's Lacrosse defeated the visiting Albertus Magnus College Falcons by the score of 15-7 on senior day at Raider Field. With the win, the Raiders wrap up their 2015 regular season schedule with an impressive 12-4 (4-4 GNAC) record. As for the Falcons, they drop their season record to 2-11 (1-7 GNAC).

This was a back and forth game for both the Raiders and Falcons in this one. To begin the game, it was the Falcons who were able to cash in first on offense at the 8:51 mark. Justin Bennet (Fairfield, Conn.) off of a feed from Greg Buck (Berlin, Conn.) was able to put the Falcons on the board with a nice shot that beat Clark Plummer (Londonderry, N.H.) Rivier was able to respond however with two incredible man-down goals.

Cody Lynch (Salem, N.H.) was able to score two man-down goals for the Raiders 5 seconds apart. One goal at the 8:33 mark, and again at the 8:28 mark. Joe Kelland (Watertown, Mass.) recorded his first of three assists on the game during this run. Unfortunately for the Raiders, Albertus Magnus would respond by scoring the final 3 goals of the quarter, to take the 4-2 lead heading into the second.

It was all Rivier in the second quarter. The Raiders, with some outstanding offensive production, were able to outscore the Falcons by the score of 7-0 in the second quarter. Kyle Graham (Londonderry, N.H.) scored two goals for the Raiders during the run, while teammate William Ryan (Dorchester, Mass.) was able to notch the hat-trick with 3 goals. Joe Kelland (Watertown, Mass.) and Tyler Tambouris (Hooksett, N.H.) were each able to tack on one goal each for the Raiders.

The third quarter began with a Mike Choiniere (Bethany, Conn.) strike at the 10:46 mark. The goal trimmed the Raider lead to just 4 goals. Kyle Graham (Londonderry, N.H.) responded quickly for the Raiders with an unassisted goal just 16 seconds later. Greg Buck (Berlin, Conn.) was able to score again for the Falcons, but the Raiders were able to pile on an additional 3 goals before the end of the quarter.

Two Kyle Graham (Londonderry, N.H.) goals in the fourth quarter sealed the victory for the Raiders, and also secured their 4th GNAC win of the season. Rivier had great performances turned in by Kyle Graham (Londonderry, N.H.) who was able to lead all scorers with an outstanding 5 goals and 1 assist. William Ryan (Dorchester, Mass.) added an additional 3 goals and 3 assists to the Raider tally. Tyler Tambouris (Hooksett, N.H.) and Joe Kelland (Watertown, Mass.) each were able to record 2 goals and 3 assists each for the Raiders. Cody Lynch (Salem, N.H.) added 2 goals and 1 assist, while Kevin Dembkoski (Salem, N.H.) added 1 goal and 1 assist for Rivier.

Rivier University Men's Lacrosse would like to recognize the careers of three Senior players graduating this May.

This is a senior class that has seen their Men's Lacrosse team reach the GNAC Playoffs in all four years that they have participated as members of the Rivier Lacrosse Program. In these four years, the Raiders have entered each GNAC Playoff in a higher seeded position than in each previous season. The consistent growth of the Lacrosse program at Rivier University is a direct reflection of this senior class and their commitment to consistent work ethic and team first focus.

Andy Wells is a Close Defender from Wilmington, MA who has played in 43 games causing 41 turnovers and picking up 62 ground balls while scoring 2 goals and assisting on 2 other scores. Andy will graduate with a degree in Business Marketing.

Danny Connelly is a Short Stick Defensive Midfielder from Bedford, NH. He has played in 59 games Causing 32 turnovers and picking up 100 groundballs while scoring 7 goals and assisting on 4 other scores. Danny will graduate with a degree in Business Marketing.

Andrew Lucy is a Close Defender from Windham, NH who has played in 57 games causing 75 turnovers and picking up 111 groundballs while contributing 2 assists.Andrew will graduate with a degree in Business Management.
