Men's Lacrosse bury Becker 14-7

(Nashua, N.H.) The Rivier Men's Lacrosse team defeated the visiting Becker College Hawks this evening at Raider field by the score of 14-7. With the win, the Raiders improve their season record to 6-2. With the loss, the Hawks drop to 1-4 on the year.

The Raiders were the first on the board in this one when Joe Kelland (Watertown, Mass.) was able to bury an excellent shot off of a nice pass from Kyle Graham (Londonderry, N.H.) The goal came in just 29 seconds for the Raiders. Rivier continued to build their lead when Tyler Tambouris (Hooksett, N.H.) was able to split the defense and score an impressive unassisted goal at the 8:30 mark to put the Raiders on top 2-0. Despite the hot start by the Raiders, Becker would quickly answer with a goal of their own. At the 5:05 mark in the first quarter, Daniel Johnson (Plymouth, Mass.) put the Hawks on the board with an unassisted man-up goal.

Cody Lynch (Salem, N.H.) and the Raiders didn't wait long to re-establish their lead. Lynch was able to score for the Raiders at the 3:23 mark, and again only 6 seconds later at the 3:17 mark. Just like that, the Raiders found themselves on top 4-1. Unfortunately, on the wrong end of a man-down situation, the Raider lead was cut to 4-2 as Ryan Kearney (Katonah, N.Y.) was able to score a much needed man-up goal from a nice pass by Cody Leary (Sandwich, Mass.).

The second quarter was all Rivier in this one. The Raiders were able to score the only goals of the second quarter. Goals from Max Tucci (Newton, Mass.), Joe Kelland (Watertown, Mass.), Kyle Graham (Londonderry, N.H.), and Cody Lynch (Salem, N.H.) gave the Raiders the 8-2 advantage heading into halftime. Not only did the Raiders come out firing in the second quarter, but they continued their explosive offense immediately into the third.

At the 8 minute mark, Rob Auer (Salem, N.H.) was able to beat Jeffery Candee (Madison, Conn.) to push the Raider lead to 9-2. With the game starting to get out of hand, the Hawks needed to pull their efforts together and try to chip away at the 7-goal Rivier lead. A pair of goals by Daniel Johnson (Plymouth, Mass.) and Blake Boutiette (Burriville, R.I.) did just that. 9-4 was the Rivier advantage heading into the 4th quarter.

Unfortunately for the Hawks, the Raiders, with pin-point accurate shooting, were too much as they were able to bury an additional 5 goals in the 4th. Tyler Tambouris (Hooksett, N.H.), Kevin Dembkoski (Salem, N.H.), William Ryan (Dorchester, Mass.), Max Tucci (Newton, Mass.), and Rob Auer (Salem, N.H.) were all able to put home 4th quarter goals for the Raiders. Unfortunately for the Hawks, their efforts were not enough for the comeback bid eventually falling 14-7 to the Raiders at Raider field.

The Raiders had good performances turned in by many players in this one. Joe Kelland (Watertown, Mass.), Tyler Tambouris (Hooksett, N.H.), and Max Tucci (Newton, Mass.) were all able to score two goals for the Raiders. Cody Lynch (Salem, N.H.) was able to record the hat-trick for Rivier as he finished with 3 goals and 1 assist on the evening. Rob Auer (Salem, N.H.) was also able to make a significant impact as he was able to score 2 goals for the Raiders while also recording 2 assists. Kyle Graham (Londonderry, N.H.) had another great game passing the ball, as he was able to record 3 assists while also adding a solo goal to his tally. Clark Plummer (Londonderry, N.H.) also had a great game in net for the Raiders, holding the Hawks to just 7 goals on 14 shots.

Becker had good performances turned in by Daniel Johnson (Plymouth, Mass.) who was able to score 3 goals for the Hawks. Blake Boutiette (Burriville, R.I.), Matthew Genkos (Worcester, Mass.), Ryan Kearney (Katonah, N.Y.), and Cruz Desrochers (Malden, Mass.) were each able to record a goal in the game for the Hawks.

In their next contest, the Rivier Men's lacrosse team will be on the road as they take on Mitchell on March 28th at 6:45pm. This will be a non-conference matchup for the Raiders. As for the Haws, they will next play host to Johnson State on March 28th at 2:00pm.
