Women's Lacrosse Falls to Saint Joseph's (Me.) in Season Finale

NASHUA, N.H. – The Rivier women's lacrosse team saw its 2024 campaign come to a close in a 16-8 loss to Great Northeast Athletic Conference (GNAC) opponent Saint Joseph's (Me.) on Tuesday night at Merrill Field. Senior midfielder Caitlin Newell posted a goal with 1:13 left to notch her third point of the outing and 100th of her career.

The Raiders concluded their season with the most wins since 2014 and the first winning record since an 8-7 showing in 2013. The Monks wrapped up their regular-season 13-4 (9-2 GNAC), securing the North Division's No. 2 seed in the postseason tournament.

SJC took its first lead with 4:02 left in the first quarter and led until the final buzzer to take the win.

Sarah Lachance had five points with a hat trick and two assists. Newell and Ashley Wilder each posted two goals and one assist while Wilder scooped a team-best four ground balls. Alysha Hok scored the second goal of her first season, coming in a man-down situation.

Both Cassie Hemmerdinger and Madelyn Poulton each caused two turnovers. Hemmerdinger had three ground balls along with Briana Paxson and Bailey CarrollLindsey Kruger made nine saves in her final game between the pipes.

The Raiders will graduate five seniors in May but look to build off this season's successes with 12 returners in 2025.
