Women's Lacrosse: Raiders downed by Cougars in season opener 22-7.

(Nashua, N.H.) The Rivier University Women's Lacrosse team fell to the Cougars of Clark University 22-7 tonight at home.

The Cougars jumped out to a quick lead 6-0 lead before the Raiders could respond.  First to do so for the Raiders was sophomore Cailee Green (Henniker, N.H.) at the 17:20 mark to notch the first goal of the season.  Senior captain Amanda Barton (Pelham, N.H.) was credited the assist.  The goal ignited the Raiders attack and they found themselves gaining some steam.  Next to strike was Barton off a dish from Dzenana Omerovic (Revere, Mass.).  Barton returned the favor and found Omerovic again less than a minute later to close the gap, 7-3.  Omerovic went on to score an unassisted goal with a minute and a half to go in the half.  The first half ended 9-5 in favor of the hosts.

In the second half Omerovic collected 2 more goals, one was unassisted and the other was handed-off by Barton at the 21:49 mark.

Newcomer Shea Kingsley (Pelham, N.H.) pulled down 20 saves and scooped up 4 groundballs in her first performance for the Raiders.

Up next for the Raiders will be a trip to Fitchburg State University this Saturday.  The match is set to start at 11AM.
