Softball: Mikayla Ramsdell named GNAC Player of the Week!

(Winthrop, Mass.) The Great Northeast Athletic Conference announced earlier today that Rivier University junior Mikayla Ramsdell (Salem, N.H.) has been selected as the Conference's Softball Player of the Week, presented by Corvais.

Ramsdell helped lead the Raiders to a perfect 6-0 week, including a pair of GNAC wins over Anna Maria College. The junior outfielder batted .545 (6-for-11) with eight runs scored and belted her first career home run. She also finished the week with seven RBI and a 1.706 OPS. In the team's 11-1 win over Fisher, Ramsdell went 2-for-2 with the HR and two RBI. She followed that by going 2-for-3 with two runs scored and two RBI in the 16-2 conference win over Anna Maria. She was perfect in the field, recording a putout in her only chance.

Also earning Conference recognition was freshman Kellie Kennedy (Hudson, N.H.) as she was named to the Honor Roll.

The rookie right-hander went 3-0 inside the circle and did not allow a run in her 15 innings of work. She started her week by throwing three perfect innings in the team's 11-3 win over Fisher College on Friday night. She followed that with five shutout innings of four-hit ball against Fisher on Saturday and earned the first GNAC win with a complete game effort over Anna Maria. Kennedy also racked up 17 strikeouts and did not issue a walk on the week while surrendering eight hits. At the plate, she went 2-for-7 with one triple, one RBI, and one walk.

This is the first time in her career that Ramsdell has garnered Conference Player of the Week honors. The Raiders will have a small week as their next games are their only games of the week, a GNAC Double-Header at Norwich University on Thursday afternoon.
