Men's Volleyball: Raiders close out March undefeated; down Emerson 3-0

(Boston, Mass.) The Rivier University Men's Volleyball team closed out the month of March undefeated this afternoon as they swept Emerson College in Great Northeast Athletic Conference action. The win propels the Raiders to an overall record of 20-6 and remain unblemished against GNAC competition at 12-0. The Lions, meanwhile, fall to 10-9 on the season and are now 3-8 in the GNAC.

Rivier has won nine consecutive games in a row, their last loss came at the hands of #1 Springfield College back on February 24th.

The Raiders earned the straight-set win by scores of 25-15, 25-21 and 25-22.

Sophomore David Smith (Clinton, Ohio) led the way offensively with 11 kills and senior Grant Andler (Chicago, Ill.) added 10 kills and a .571 hitting percentage. Classmate Garrett Bucklin (Jamestown, R.I.) handed out 37 assists over his three sets played while also leading the defensive effort with eight digs. Junior Khaynen Yocca (Pittsburgh, Pa.) racked up six kills and three total blocks in the win for Rivier.

Emerson's Mark Piorkowski matched Smith with 11 kills on the afternoon for the game-high and Win Kittivatcharapong added eight kills in the loss for the Lions.

Rivier will return to action on Tuesday night as they host Johnson and Wales University for Senior Night at the 'Doon. Game time is scheduled for 7pm with senior night activities beginning prior to first serve. Emerson will also be in action next Tuesday as they host Lasell College.
