Men's Basketball: Raiders come up short to Saint Joseph's in Catholic Colleges Classic

WESTON, MASS. - The Rivier University Men's Basketball team dropped a non-confernece contest to Saint Joseph's College (Me.), 83-71 this afternoon on Higgins Court in the finale of the Catholic Colleges Classic hosted by Regis College. The loss sends the Raidersto 2-9 while the Monks improve to 4-7.

Senior guard Issaiah Chappell (Sunapee, N.H.) led the way for Rivier with 26 points scored. Sophomore Pharaoh Davis (Plainville, Mass.) followed closely behind, scoring 15 points and totaling seven rebounds. Junior center Tyler Bradanese (Billerica, Mass.) also contributed to the Raiders' effort, netting 10 points and collecting six rebounds.

The Monks were led by junior Jack Casale (Portland, Maine), who notched the nights only double-double with 36 points and 11 rebounds. Classmate Tatsuaki Sakai (Ishikawa, Japan) came close to his own double-double, scoring 11 points and grabbing nine rebounds. Also contributing was sophomore Griffin Foley (Portland, Maine) with 15 points.

Both teams return to regular play on Tuesday. Rivier will host Paul Smith's College with a 4:00 p.m. tip-off. Saint Joseph's College will travel to Maine Maritime with a scheduled tip-off at 6:00 p.m.
