BOSTON, MASS. – The Rivier University Men's Basketball team fell this evening on the road to Wentworth Institute of Technology, 79-62 in a non-conference contest held inside the Tansey Gymnasium. The loss moves the Raiders to 2-4 overall on the year while the Leopards improve to 4-1.
Sophomore Pharaoh Davis (Plainville, Mass.) led the way offensively for Rivier as he poured in a team-high 12 points while collecting five rebounds and dishing out four assists. Freshman Nikolas Pignone (Stoneham, Mass.) added 10 points on 3-of-8 shooting from the floor in a reserve effort and classmate Nesta Roberts (Manchester, Conn.) chipped in with eight points. Senior Issaiah Chappell (Sunapee, N.H.) and freshman Chance Eason-Jones (Manchester, Conn.) also recorded eight points each in the loss for the Raiders.
Wentworth was guided by Trey Carrier, who scored the game-high 26 points, and Stephen Azums finished with a double-double of 19 points & 13 rebounds. Kyle Henseler chipped in with 12 points and Mayo Aina added seven points off the bench in the win.
Up next for Rivier will be another non-conference road affair as they travel up to New England College next Tuesday night, beginning at 5:30pm.
