Baseball's Thibault tabbed GNAC Rookie of the Week

(Winthrop, Mass.) The Great Northeast Athletic Conference announced earlier this afternoon that Rivier University freshman Brandon Thibault was selected as the GNAC/Corvias Rookie of the Week for Baseball. This is the first weekly award for both Thibault and the Raiders in 2016.

The Methuen, Mass. native had yet another outstanding week for the blue and white. The second baseman went 5-for-13 with a home run and three RBI. He belted his first career homer in the team's 10-4 loss at Gordon College on 3/29. He finished that afternoon going 2-for-4 with two runs scored, two RBI and two stolen bases. Thibault followed that with a 2-for-5, RBI night at Fisher College as the team won 14-7 and added a 1-for-4 evening with a ground-rule double in the final game of the week for Rivier – a 5-4 loss at Lesley.

Thibault is a 2015 graduate of Whittier Tech where he was a four-year athlete in Baseball. Throughout his first month of his college career, Thibault is hitting a robust .365 with 23 hits – four for extra bases – with eleven RBI and six stolen bases while scoring a team high 17 runs. The rookie infielder has started in 17 of the teams 18 games and has an OPS of .864.
