Women's Lacrosse: Raiders suffer loss to the Hawks, 18-5.

(Nashua, N.H.) The Rivier University Women's Lacrosse program suffered a tough loss to Becker College 18-5 in a nonconference contest, 18-5.  

The Hawks were the first to get on the board.  Arianna Celouro netted one under a minute into the game shortly after a successful clear attempt. The assist was credited to Julia Ravenelle. Upperclassman Ashley Leal (Tyngsboro, Mass) responded less than 30 seconds later with a point  Thanks to Amanda Barton's (Pelham, N.H.) efforts to gain possession off of the draw-control.  The assist was credited to senior Marin Owens (Brookline, N.H.).  

After a handful of goals scored by the hosts, the Hawks were caught on their heals after a turnover caused by the Raiders. Owens eventually got possession and zipped one past Hawks goalkeeper Nikole Storey (   ).

The Raiders struck twice before the end of the half. Sophmore Dzenana Omerovic (Revere, Mass) was responsible this time, Owens earned the assist.  Pumped from the previous assist, Owen's tallied one off a dish from Barton.  

The final goal on the afternoon for the Raiders was tallied by Owens off of a free position shot.

While the results were not in favor of the Raiders there were some positives to take from the match.  The Raiders were 1-3 in their free-position shot attempts and were just behind Becker in total draw control wins 11-13.  Senior goalie Courtney Leperriere (Keene, N.H.) earned 7 saves.  While her teammate and new comer Kim Wood registered 5 saves in 15 minutes.   In addition the team scooped up 22 ground balls.  

Current stat leaders for the Raiders are Owens and Barton with 5 goals a piece, Owen's leads the assists category with 5.
