Becker College Earns First GNAC Win Against Rivier

Nashua, NH – Becker College goal keeper Michael Munoz (Avon, CT) faced just 4 shots in 60 minutes of action as the Hawks defeated the Rivier College Raiders 19-2 in GNAC men's lacrosse action. Hawks teammates Joe Ignagni (Kingston, MA) and Jeff Petersen (Syracuse, NY) each scored four goals and combined for 5 assists in the win for the Hawks, who move to 4-6 overall and 1-1 in GNAC play while the Raiders fall to 0-4 and 0-2 in the GNAC.

The Hawks went up 14-0 into the fourth quarter before Rivier finally got on the board as freshman Danny Hooper (Wakefield, RI) took a pass from Carl Ghannad (Salem, NH) to keep the Raiders from being shut out. Ghannad scored less than a minute later when he took the centering pass from Hooper to make the score 14-2, but that would be all the Raiders could muster as the Hawks added five more goals in the rout.

John DeAngelis (Swampscott, MA) added 3 goals and David Deschenes (Gales Ferry, CT) added 2 while six other players each scored one goal for the Hawks in the win. Munoz saw just 4 shots and made two saves in the win. Rivier goal keeper Chris Benoit (Blackstone, MA) allowed all 19 goals and made 6 saves in the loss.

The Raiders will host St. Joseph's of Maine on Saturday for a 1:00 GNAC game while Becker will host Salem State on Thursday.
