Baseball's Taylor Black, Jon Chotkowski honored by GNAC

(Winthrop, Mass.) The Great Northeast Athletic Conference announced their weekly honors and Rivier baseball juniors Taylor Black and Jon Chotkowski were selected as the conference's Player and Pitcher of the Week.

Player of the Week – Taylor Black, Junior from West Springfield, Mass.

Junior Taylor Black (West Springfield, Mass.) helped the Rivier baseball team to two wins in a three game week, hitting .538 (7-for-13) with two homers, six RBI and a perfect fielding percentage at shortstop. In a 13-6 win over Eastern Nazarene, Black went 4-for-5 and belted his first home run of the season with four RBI. He followed that up with a 3-for-4 showing against Gallaudet, in which he hit his second homer in a 4-2 win.

Black is the second Raider to be selected as GNAC Baseball Player of the Week. Senior David Cusack (Newburyport, Mass.) was honored back in Week One of the Weekly Reports. 

Pitcher of the Week – Jon Chotkowski, Junior from Tewksbury, Mass.

Junior Jon Chotkowski (Tewksbury, Mass.) earned his first win of the season in the team's 4-2 win over Gallaudet on Saturday night. The southpaw tossed four innings of relief allowing just one run on five hits with four strikeouts.

The Rivier Baseball program, which is off to their best start since 2008, will hopefully return to the field this week as they have six games scheduled.
