Women's Lacrosse: Raiders shark bitten at Simmons

(Brighton, Mass.) The Rivier University Women's Lacrosse team were sharkbitten this evening as they fell to Simmons College, 17-1 in a Great Northeast Athletic Conference contest held at Daly Field. The loss sends the Raiders' overall record to 0-5 with a 0-3 mark in league play while the Sharks improve to 5-3 overall, 1-2 in the GNAC.

Senior Lauren Goodspeed (Merrimack, N.H.) scored the lone goal for Rivier as she found the back of the net with 03:39 remaning in the second half. It was a "man-up" unassisted goal, her second of the season and it spoiled the shutout bid for Simmons. Junior netminder Courtney Laperriere (Keene, N.H.) made eight saves in net and sophomore Alyssa Ciszek (Tyngsboro, Mass.) scooped up a team-high four groundballs in the loss.

Molly Reinhold (Mystic, Conn.) tallied three goals and two assists for Simmons. Junior midfielder Ana Giarrusso (Hingham, Mass.) netted three goals and added an assist. Sophomore Kingsley Richards (Lexington, Mass.) and junior Missie Maiewski (Northampton, Mass.) each scored a pair of goals to give the Sharks five players with multiple goals.

Freshman Cat Cross (Beverly, Mass.) earned the victory for the Sharks with a save in the first 30 minutes of play, before senior Chyenne Yeager (Indiana, Pa.) for a pair of saves to close out the night.

Rivier will return to action on Friday afternoon as they travel to Norwich University for another conference road tilt. Game time is scheduled for 4pm.
