Women's Basketball: Meehan's triple-double leads Raiders past USJ, 84-73

(Nashua, N.H.) The Rivier University Women's Basketball team earned their first Great Northeast Athletic Conference victory this afternoon as they defeated the visiting University of Saint Joseph, 84-73 inside the Muldoon Gymnasium. The Raiders are now 3-14 overall on the season and climb to 1-6 against the conference while the Blue Jays fall to 3-16 overall, 0-6 in league play.

Senior Elizabeth Meehan (Nashua, N.H.) became the second student-athlete in the program to record a triple-double as she finished with 27 points, 13 rebounds and 12 assists. Classmates Kaylee Kacavas (Dracut, Mass.) and Megan Hamel (Colebrook, N.H.) also finished with double-figures as they totaled 18 and 16 points, respectively. Hamel also netted her own double-double with 11 rebounds and freshman Cydney Lessard (Auburn, N.H.) totaled 10 points in the win.

The University of Saint Joseph saw freshman Silvana Barcomb (Middletown, Conn.) pace the offense with 16 points on 6-of-16 shooting from the floor and sophomore Raelyn Voislow (Windsor Locks, Conn.) pulled down nine rebounds and 13 points. Freshman Cheyenne-Mone Smith (Wethersfield, Conn.) also hit double-figures as she finished with 10 points in the loss.

Rivier will return to action on Thursday night as they host the undefeated Saint Joseph's College (Maine) in a 7pm conference battle at the Muldoon. The Blue Jays will host Simmons University on Tuesday night at 7pm.
