Men's Basketball: Rivers scores 20 points in loss at Saint Joseph's (Me.)

(Standish, Maine) The Rivier University Men's Basketball team returned to the site of their most dramatic win last season but this time came up short in the 87-74 setback to Saint Joseph's College (Me.) in a Great Northeast Athletic Conference contest held inside the Harold Alfond Center on Saturday afternoon. The loss keeps Rivier winless in the first semester as they are now 0-9 and 0-2 in the GNAC while the Monks climb to 4-3 overall, 1-1 in conference action.

The Raiders were spearheaded by the duo of junior Angel Perez (Miami, Fla.) and freshman Tarik Rivers (Stamford, Conn.). Each registered the team-high of 20 points with River dishing out five assists. Sophomore Kirk Palladino (Milford, N.H.) added 12 points off the bench and junior Isiah Marks (Brooklyn, N.Y.) contributed with eight points in his 22 minutes of action.

Saint Joseph's saw Ian Milekis net the game-high of 21 points as he was one of five Monks to reach double-digits in scoring. Jack Casale chipped in with 19 points in a reserve effort while both Darian Berry and Aaron Hall scored 13 points apiece. Quinn Richardson-Newton rounded the double-digit scorers with 10 points.

No time to rest for the Raiders as they host visiting Paul Smith's College tomorrow afternoon in a non-conference matchup, Tip-off is scheduled for 3pm inside the Muldoon Gymnasium and it will be the final game of the first semester for Rivier.
