Field Hockey Falls to Monks 2-0

NASHUA, NH: The Rivier University field hockey team ended its three game winning streak with a loss to GNAC opponent Saint Joseph's College this morning 2-0 on Joanne Merrill Field.

 THE BASICS:

- Date: 10/9/2021

- Score: SJC 2, Rivier 0

- Records: SJC (9-2, 5-0 GNAC), Rivier (3-6, 2-3 GNAC)

HOW IT HAPPENED:

-  It took the Monks until seven minutes into the third quarter to get on the board. Alexa Gutowski scored her first goal of the season and was assisted by Meghan Hill.

-  St. Joe's would put one more on the board just three minutes later when Hill found the back of the net.

- Katie Olsen (Saugus, MA) continued to make incredible saves in net for the Raiders. She saw 11 shots on goal this morning. She was able to save nine.

INSIDE THE NUMBERS:

-  Shots: SJC 21, Rivier 3

-  Penalty Corners: SJC 20, Rivier 0

-  Saves: Rivier 9, SJC 1

UP NEXT:

- Field hockey will be back in action Wednesday at home when GNAC competitor Anna Maria makes the trip to Joanne Merrill Field for a 7:00 PM start.
