Women's Cross Country takes Eagle Invitational Team Championship

(Nashua, NH) The Rivier Women's Cross Country team had six runners finish in the top 20 – including four in the top ten – to capture the team championship at the Eagle Invitational hosted by Daniel Webster College at Mines Falls Park in Nashua.

Senior Vanessa Viola (Nashua, NH) was the best runner for the Raiders as she crossed the line with a 22:01 time, which earned her third place overall. Sophomore Christina Dick (Tewksbury, MA) finished fifth with a 22:26 time while senior Laura DeChristoforo (Burlington, MA) and freshman Kathleen Maggio (Londonderry, NH) crossed the line at 22:59 and 23:23, respectively for 5th and 7th place finishes.

Sophomroe Heather Devereaux (Londonderry, NH) and freshman Kim Willett (Suffield, CT) were the other runners to finish in the top 20 and qualified to give the Raiders the team win. Devereaux, 14th place, checked in with a 24:04 mark and Willett, 20th place, finished at 24:47.

Rivier also had five other runners for a total of 11 in the 50 person race. Junior Alyssa Cummings (Townsend, MA) and sophomore Leah Finch (Weare, NH) both finished at 24:57 and junior Christina Demmons (Nashua, NH) crossed at 25:03. Sophomore Alicia Brown (Chichester, NH), who just recently joined the team, ran her first race with a 25:38 time. Senior Luz Fernandez (Manchester, NH) also checked in at 28:03.
