Volleyball Sweeps Another Tri-Match Against Colby and Clark

WORCESTER, MA: The Rivier women's volleyball team took down both Colby College and Clark University this afternoon in non-conference action. The Raiders defeated Colby by a score of 3-0 and Clark 3-2.  

THE BASICS:

- Date: 10/23/2021

- Score: Rivier 3, Colby 0, Clark 2 (M1 set 25-21, 25-16, 26-24), (M2 set 18-25, 25-16, 25-10, 25-12, 15-9)

- Records: Colby (10-9), Clark (12-10, Rivier (16-5)

GAME ONE: COLBY

HOW IT HAPPENED:

- Match one was not a clean one for either side of the court, with 43 combined errors between the two teams. However, Rivier was able to get the job done in just three sets behind middle hitter Lily Sills (Carlisle, MA), who had a match high 13 kills and four blocks. Avery Pollard (Ballston Lake, NY) finished well in all categories leading the defense with 16 digs, five kills, 27 assists, and three blocks.

-  The Mules offense was led by Natalie Bumpus, who finished with six kills and three blocks. Bella Schumacher ended the match with a team high 14 digs.  

INSIDE THE NUMBERS:

-  Kills: Rivier 41, Colby 24

-  Assists: Rivier 33, Colby 20

-  Digs: Rivier 68, Colby 58

GAME TWO: CLARK

HOW IT HAPPENED:

- The rough play continued again for both teams in match two as they combined for 54 errors this time. The Cougars opened the match on a 2-0 run before the Raiders turned it on, dominating the remaining three sets. Clark was unable to record a kill in the entire third set and only six combined between the fourth and fifth sets.

- Sydney Racevicius (Woodbury, CT) led the offense in game two along with Pollard. Racevicius ended with the match high in kills with 11 while also leading the Raider defense in digs with 20. Pollard posted a nine kill game with 35 assists and eight digs.

- Clark's Victoria Pastor topped the offense with ten kills this afternoon. Marimo Oka had the match high in digs with 21.

INSIDE THE NUMBERS:

-  Kills: Rivier 45, Clark 38

-  Assists: Rivier 42, Clark 35

-  Digs: Rivier 71, Clark 65

- Rivier women's volleyball will be back in action Tuesday when they host Keene State at 7 PM in the Muldoon Center.
