Volleyball Takes Down Wildcats to Tally Kolek’s 1,000th Win

PROVIDENCE, RI: The Rivier women's volleyball team picked up a huge win this evening against top conference opponent Johnson & Wales, with head coach Craig Kolek picking up his 1,000th career win.  

THE BASICS:

- Date: 10/20/2021

- Score: Rivier 3, JWU 0: Set scores 28-26, 25-16, 25-19

- Records: JWU (13-7, 8-1 GNAC), Rivier (14-5, 11-0 GNAC)

HOW IT HAPPENED:

-  The Raiders continue to roll in conference play. Tonight, Rivier found its offensive production through Sydney Racevicius (Woodbury, CT) and Lily Blodget (Dunstable, MA). Avery Pollard (Ballston Lake, NY) must have been setting very well as Racevicius and Blodgett only had five errors combined. Each hitter tallied ten kills, with Racevicius getting a match high of four service aces. Pollard fell just shy of 30 assists with 29.

Sofia Pawlusik (Burnt Hills, NY) was back on top of the defense with ten digs.

- The Wildcats offense was led by Peyton Oliver, who ended the match with eight kills. Savannah Cambell was the setter for JWU tallying 12 assists.

INSIDE THE NUMBERS:

-  Kills: Rivier 34, JWU 27

-  Assists: Rivier 33, JWU 24

-  Digs: Rivier 37, JWU 34

UP NEXT:

- Rivier women's volleyball will be back in action Saturday when they travel to Clark University to take on the Cougars along with Colby College in a non-conference tri-match. Match one against Colby begins at 2 pm, with match two coming at 4 pm.
