Volleyball Sweeps Tri-Match with Colby-Sawyer and Anna Maria

NEW LONDON, NH: The Rivier women's volleyball team took down two conference opponents in this afternoon's tri-match against Colby-Sawyer and Anna Maria College. The Raiders took each match 3-0.  

THE BASICS:

- Date: 10/16/2021

- Score: Rivier 3, Colby-Sawyer 0, Sets (25-20, 25-22, 25-15), Anna Maria 0, Sets 25-14, 25-13, 25-16.

- Records: Colby-Sawyer (8-13, 3-5 GNAC), Anna Maria (5-15, 1-7 GNAC), Rivier (13-5, 10-0 GNAC)

GAME ONE: Colby-Sawyer

HOW IT HAPPENED:

-  The Raiders played nearly a perfect match offensively, with just five total errors committed through all three sets. The Chargers struggled to find their stride and gave Riv 23 points on attack errors alone.  

-  For the Raiders, Sydney Racevicius (Woodbury, CT) led the offense with 14 kills to go along with ten digs. Avery Pollard (Ballston, Lake, NY) finished the game with a match high 29 assists with an additional three kills, three digs, and one block. Defensively Sofia Pawlusik (Burt Hills, NY) continues to rack up the digs, finishing game one with 15.

- Sam Mohammed and Shaelyn Thorton led Colby-Sawyer's offensive effort, with both compiling 11 kills each. Anna Allen had the team high in assists with 17.

INSIDE THE NUMBERS:

-  Kills: Rivier 36, Colby-Sawyer 36

-  Assists: Rivier 33, Colby-Sawyer 33

-  Digs: Colby-Sawyer 56, Rivier 51

GAME TWO: Anna Maria

HOW IT HAPPENED:

- Rivier dominated the match from the start, with Cadia Greene (North Kingstown, RI) leading the way with ten kills, four service aces, and 13 digs. Setter Anna Campbell (Nashua, NH) had a match high 24 assists along with two kills and three digs.

- For the AMCATS, Julia Tarantino finished with a team high four kills, with Sarah Burt tallying a team best 11 digs.

- Women's volleyball will be back in action Wednesday when they travel to Johnson & Wales for a 7 pm match.
